Games Club

New this term in the library will be a lunchtime games club for grades 9, 10 and teachers. As well as the old favourites of chess and Scrabble, we also have backgammon, Snakes & ladders, Uno, Mastermind, Frustration, Boggle and dominoes.

 The club will run during second break Monday - Thursday.  Come and escape the summer heat.

GETEX

The Spring GETEX exhibition is on at the Trade Centre this week.  I've paid a visit and collected information from universities and colleges around the world.  Please come to the library and see what a wealth of opportunities is open to you.

Book Week

Back to normal now that Book Week is over.  Highlights - our success in the Spelling Bee - Grade 9s visit to the Emirates Airline Festival of Literature at the Inter-continental hotel to see Nick Arnold and seeing teachers compete in the decorate Your Classroom Door Competition.  Congratulations to Ms Hanadi who was awarded first place by the judges from the student council.

Dubai Triumphs!

Congratulations to our Grade 9 and 10 students who took first and second place in both of the inter-campus finals.

Despite their initial nerves our students performed superbly and justifiably took top honours in the inter-campus final.  The representatives from RAK and Fujairah have promised that we will face a stiffer challenge next year.  Time will tell.

Book Week 2013

Book Week 2013 will take place from Sunday March 3rd to Thursday 7th March.  The week kicks off with the grand final of the Spelling Bee with competitors from Dubai, RAK and Fujairah vying to be our champion spellers.  There will be a talk by Dr. Samineh Shaheem for Grade 12 students on planning the future you want.  50 fortunate Grade 9 students will get the chance to see and hear Nick Arnold, author of over 20 books in the Horrible Science series. Teachers will read in the gardens again during break time.  Lots of competitions will happen during the week including Spot the Teacher, Short Story Writing and one for the teachers' - decorate your classroom door to look like a book cover.

Magazines

More good news!
After a break, we are now receiving new magazines in the library.  In addition to World Soccer, we subscribe to Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, Wheels, National Geographic, Petersen's 4 Wheel & Off-Road, Digital Studio and Arabian Computer News.
These magazines can be borrowed for a one week loan.  Check it out!
